Surf lessons in Miraflores.
Miraflores is the easiest place in Lima to base yourself if you want to learn to surf. The district sits right above Playa Makaha, a mellow beginner point on the Costa Verde, so you can go from your hotel to your first wave in about ten minutes — and be back for lunch in Parque Kennedy.
Where you'll surf: Playa Makaha
Makaha is the pebble-and-sand break directly below the Miraflores cliffs. It's protected, slow, and forgiving — one of the friendliest waves on Lima's coast for standing up the first time. Because it's right in the city, there's no long drive or boat: you park, suit up, and walk straight to the water.
Getting there from your hotel
Most travelers stay in Miraflores, and Makaha is a ten-minute ride down to the coast. If you're in Barranco or San Isidro it's still an easy taxi. We can arrange pickup from your hotel for a small fee, or just meet you at the beach base — whatever's simplest for your day.
Why Miraflores is ideal for learning
Beyond the wave, Miraflores is the most walkable, traveler-friendly part of Lima: cafés, the malecón, and the ocean all in one place. You can surf in the morning and spend the afternoon on the clifftop without crossing the city. For first-timers who want a low-stress introduction to Peruvian surf, it's hard to beat.
What we offer
We run group, private, and VIP package lessons at Makaha, plus half-day surf tripsto the best breaks of the day once you've found your feet. Every lesson includes the board, wetsuit, and a certified bilingual coach — see prices on the lessons page.
